Testbed Sites

Structure of LocURa4IoT

The LocURa4IoT testbed comprises 64 nodes spread over 3 sites (plateaux, in french): P1, P2 and P3.

P1: offices and open-space P2: appartment P3: anechoic chamber

On all sites, node deployments have been conducted using laser rangefinders. Regular verification indicate a precision under 2~cm for the fixed positions. Therefore, the real position of each node, fixed or mobile, can be used in the results to compute a ranging/localization error.

In view of the layout of the walls on the different sites, some radio links are NLOS (Non Line-of-Sight).

SLICES-FR and LocURa4IoT

Since 2022, LocURa4IoT and the UWB ressources of SLICES-FR coexist on the Blagnac campus. The SLICES-FR project is one of the French contributions to European project SLICES-RI. The project aims at removing the barriers between fields in the domain of Computer Networks by allowing large-scale experiments ranging from the embedded networks to server-class machine. By bringing European researchers together, SLICES-RI also bring closer tomorrow’s applications and services.

The testbed can be accessed here.

Example of typical usage for each site:

  1. Site P3 can be used for initial evaluation of a protocol in an isolated environment.
  2. The implementation is then tested on site P1 with a larger number of nodes in a more challenging environment.
  3. In some cases, the solution can also evaluated through its usage: this is done on site P2 and involves human-machine interactions.
